Phonak Receiver Wires SDS 3 are compatible with older Phonak and Unitron hearing aids and are available as Standard (xS) Receiver or Power (xP). (Roughly pre 2019 with 2 pin connectors and uses Cerustop Wax Guards)

Phonak Receiver Wires SDS 4 are compatible with newer Phonak and Unitron hearing aids and are available as Standard (S), Medium (M) or Power (P). (Roughly 2019 to August 2024 with 3 pin connectors and uses Cerushield Wax Guards)

Phonak Receiver Wires SDS 5 are compatible with newer Phonak and Unitron hearing aids and are available as Standard (S), Medium (M) or Power (P). (Roughly 2019 to August 2024 with 3 pin connectors and uses Cerustop Wax Guards)

Phonak Receiver Wires SDS 6 are compatible with the newest Phonak Infinio hearing aids and are available as Standard (S), Medium (M) or Power (P). (Roughly September 2024 onwards with flat connectors and uses Cerustop Wax Guards)

The four receiver wire types are incompatible with each other except SDS4 and SDS 5 are interchangeable – apart from SDS 4 is suitable for Cerushields and SDS 5 is suitable for Cerustops). The easiest way to differentiate is to inspect the tip of the receiver wire with the dome removed, what wax guards is compatible, and also how the wires connect into the body of the hearing aid itself.

See the images, if your receiver wire tip looks like the first image (with the ridged effect) you should order SDS 3 wires, and an additional check for SDS3 compatibility is there will be 2 gold pins connecting into the body of the hearing aid.

If the receiver tip looks like the second image then the receiver wire will either be SDS 4, SDS5 or SDS 6 wires. Where you connect the wire to your hearing aid SDS 4 and SDS 5 have 3 gold pins connecting into the body of the hearing aid (third image) whereas SDS 6 has a flat contact plate with 8 contact strips as per the fourth image.

On the housing of the receiver wire you will see a coloured label, blue is left, red is right. The number is the size of the wire.

On a SDS 3 wire xS is for a standard wire, xP is for a power wire. On an SDS 4, 5 and 6 wire, S is for a standard wire, M is for a medium wire and P is for a power wire.

The image shows a size 3 standard right SDS 3 wire above and a size 3 medium left SDS 4, 5 or 6 wire below.
